FAQ

What makes you different to any other practice I might visit?
Firstly, we treat you as we would treat our own family members. We consider your needs first; we listen to your concerns, thoroughly examine all aspects of your dental health and carefully explain everything to you. Our practice is set apart by our attitude, about treatment, technology, and about patients Only then do we determine the proper treatment strategy for your particular situation.

Are you a family dentist?
Absolutely!

Everyone from the very young to the mature enjoy their dental visits. It is important to start dental hygiene at a young age so no negative habits are formed. In addition, when a child enjoys their visit, any potential fear is eliminated. From children to great-grandparents, everyone is welcome and treated with respect.

How often should I go to the dentist?
Prevention is better then cure. It is recommended for clients with good oral hygiene visit their dentist every six months. This ensures that there are no signs of damage to the teeth or infections of the gums. If you are in a high risk category, from dental decay or periodontal disease it may be recommended by your dentist to attend more frequently, every 3-4 months.

When should I take my child to the dentist?
General preventative dentistry should start early. A child’s first dental visit should take place at 6 to 12 months after birth. Regular fluoride treatments, administered by a dentist, are especially helpful in strengthening enamel and arresting tooth decay for children. Contact our practice today to schedule an appointment for your child.

I have bleeding gums…
This is usually one of the signs of gum disease. Usually a decent scale and clean of your teeth, and a little coaching will teach you how to prevent this from happening again.

How can I prevent tooth decay and gum disease?
Good oral hygiene starts at home, though it needs to be supplemented by regular visits to our practice, Stellar Dental.

What is implant dentistry?
Implant dentistry is the branch of dentistry that involves installing an artificial tooth into a patient’s jaw in order to replace or restore a missing tooth.

Are dental instruments sterilised after each use?
All Dentists use an autoclave that is a steriliser. This uses steam under pressure to achieve a rapid high heat sterilisation of all instruments.

What is an Abscessed Tooth?
An abscess of the tooth is an infection. An abscess can include pus and swelling of the soft gum tissues surrounding the tooth.

Can I claim back dental treatment back from private Health insurance?
If you have dental or extras cover with any Australian private health insurance you are eligible for a rebate from your health insurance, the amount of the rebate depends on your level of your cover. For an accurate rebate amount, consult with your private health fund.”
